After being abandoned, a frightened pair of pit bulls only needed someone to let them know everything would be okay.

Patrick Hennessey of Orange County, Florida, was on his way to work one morning at the crack of dawn when he noticed two distressed pit bulls in the middle of the street. One of them was clearly injured, as there was blood coming from a wound on her leg.
The two pit bulls huddled closely together, too scared to separate. All they had was each other, with nowhere to go and no one to help them.
Hennessey phoned the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and two officers were dispatched to stay with the pups until Animal Services could pick them up. When Deputy Reed and Deputy Boggs arrived, the dogs were relieved at the sight of new company, and knew their nightmare would be over soon.

The poor dogs were in desperate need of a warm, comforting hug, and thats exactly what the officers gave them when the dogs snuggled up against them. They also treated the injured dog’s bleeding leg.

Delighted with their new friends, the pups continued cuddling with them until Animal Services came to take them to a safer location.
The staff at the shelter named the dogs Justice and Liberty—fitting names to honor Deputies Reed and Boggs and their compassionate service. Thanks to Hennessey and the deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Justice and Liberty are much happier than they were that terrible night. The shelter staff described them as loving, sweet, and very playful—if you don’t believe us, just look at those smiles!

It’s impossible to fathom why anyone would abandon such wonderful dogs, but we can surely believe that they will bring lots of joy to any family that adopts them.
