Mr. G was rescued and taken to Animal Place’s Rescue Ranch in Grass Valley, California, but something was still amiss with the little goat. He wouldn’t eat and appeared to be heartbroken.
After six days of not eating and refusing to budge, they knew they had to figure out what was wrong. The goat was completely healthy otherwise, but he seemed to have given up on life.

Workers did a little research and discovered that Mr. G had been separated from his best friend of 10 years. He wasn’t the same without him. So they needed to track down Jellybean the burro.

The two had been rescued together from an abusive situation where they’d bonded and relied on each other for support. They spent 10 years in a 12-foot by 12-foot dirt plot with no shade or shelter and without proper nourishment. But now they were separated.
So volunteers located Jellybean and made the 14-hour round trip to reunite him with his unlikely friend. When Mr. G finally saw him again, he couldn’t believe it! They picked right up where they’d left off and took to each other once again. The goat finally started to eat and had his broken heart healed immediately! 🙂

Jellybean and Mr. G will remain at the ranch together for as long as they live. Their amazing bond is proof that love transcends species, and we as humans can learn a lot from animals such as them.
