A father’s love has no bounds.
Mike Carey proved this when he performed a gripping and emotional dance with his 12-year-old daughter, McKenzie. McKenzie, or “Kenzie” as her parents call her, was diagnosed with a mitochondrial disease when she was just 18 months old. This life-threatening condition has made it difficult for cells to produce energy — the mitochondria is responsible for energy in cells — and as a result, Kenzie cannot walk or talk.
Despite this, she understands everything going on around her. Her mom, Tammy, told CBS, “We are her voice and legs. My husband started doing these dances with her to inspire people and she has inspired people and touched people’s hearts from all over the world.”
Watch one of these touching dances in the video below. Mike dances with Kenzie to Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb” at a summer pageant. I could not help but be moved to tears as I watch this father-daughter dance. The smile on Kenzie’s face as her father holds her up is absolutely priceless, and it’s the cherry on top to this dazzling performance.
