Going for a bike ride is something that Marion Ion did on a regular basis in the mountains of western Romania. Little did the 40-year-old cyclist know that his life was about to change, all thanks to a dog.

As he biked along, he suddenly fell off, tumbled to the ground, and wound up breaking his collarbone. He was in terrible pain, but he knew help was nowhere to be found in this remote area. As night approached and temperatures fell, Ion curled up along the roadside all alone.

He called for help and eventually, someone came along: a dog appeared from the trees. The pooch curled up next to the injured man and would not leave his side until the rescuers showed up. Since he stayed so close to him, the dog prevented a more severe case of hypothermia from affecting Ion.

Once the ambulance arrived on the scene, the dog even jumped up to ride along with the man! Although the responders didn’t allow the dog to ride along, he chased after the ambulance. It is not known where the dog came from, but he did land in a shelter thanks to police transport.

The story started to spread in the town, and the vice president of the local city council decided to adopt the pup. He arrived at the shelter for what he called ‘Savior Dog.’ Thank goodness for a happy ending and a dog with a heart the size of the universe.
