Jessie Larson was driving down Baby Doll Road in Port Orchard, Washington, when she noticed something strange on the road. She stopped her car to take a look at the lump that was right in front of her on the road.
As it turned out, the lump was, in fact, a baby deer, who got so scared from all the vehicle noise, she decided to just lay down in the middle of the highway. This is a baby deer’s version of ‘deer caught in headlights.’
Just as Jessie was thinking of getting out and helping the fawn to the side of the road, the mama deer appeared from the bushes. Jessie started filming this event, and the video has now gone viral.
Jessie turns off her engine to try and make the fawn feel safe. She watches as mama deer looks at Jessie and assesses the situation. Once she’s confident that Jessie is not a threat, the mama deer softly begins nudging her baby to instill some bravery in her. The fawn gets some courage with mama next to her, and slowly begins getting up.
With mama by her side, the brave fawn finally manages to get up on all four of her young legs and jogs off with mama. We’re glad Jessie caught this whole event on camera. This mama deer is one cool critter.
