Here’s my recipe: 1 pound Cod, 3 pounds boneless chicken, 3 – 16 oz bag of frozen peas, green beans and carrots (1 of each). Large can of pumpkin and 5 cored and peeled apples. Add 2 cups water. Crock pot high for 6 hours. Freezes great.

When I slow cook, I use fresh veggies – chopped celery & carrots at the base, then starch (rice, pasta, barley, or quinoa), then lighter veggies like peas, cabbage. Meat on top, covered with leftover veggies ‘& liquid.

The only problem I see with the above…white rice is typically recommended because brown often causes allergies in dogs over time.
Something I don’t see above thankfully but is unfortunately popular with people: never give your dogs garlic or onion or anything in the allium family of bulb foods (including powders). It destroys their red blood cells. Paprika is also bad.
Salt however is the worst as it will kill a doggie liver. Be aware of that when using canned veggies…a lot of doggie trouble when fed canned veggies with high salt.
